Chris Boerner serves as board chair and chief executive officer of Bristol Myers Squibb. From April through November 2023, he served as its executive vice president, chief operating officer, and chief executive designate.

Prior to these roles, Chris was the chief commercialization officer and led commercial strategy and execution across all geographies.  He also served as the executive sponsor of the Bristol Myers Squibb Network of Women (B-NOW) People and Business Resource Group. He joined the company in February 2015 as president and head of US Commercial Markets, and subsequently held the role of head of international markets.

Before joining Bristol Myers Squibb, Chris served as executive vice president of commercial for Seattle Genetics, Inc., where he was responsible for leading all commercial activities for the company. From 2002 to 2010, he served in marketing leadership roles at Genentech, a member of the Roche Group, focused on strategy, development and commercialization across multiple oncology products and immunology. Earlier in his career, Chris worked for McKinsey & Company, serving global pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients.

Chris serves on the Arts & Sciences National Council. He received his Bachelor of Arts in economics and history from Washington University in St. Louis and his master’s and PhD in business administration from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
